Job Description

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the advertising sales function at Cox Media to drive revenue growth and increase market share. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement plans to guide the sales departments in achieving revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales leadership, with experience in managing high-performing sales teams and developing revenue growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive revenue growth and increase market share.
  • Lead and manage the sales teams to achieve revenue goals.
  • Manage inventory and pricing to maximize revenue from advertising products.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts and national sales channels.
  • Recruit, select, develop, and manage the performance of sales team members.
  • Coach and develop sales leaders to optimize revenue potential across all revenue streams and channels.
  • Respond to market changes and provide guidance to ensure the sales team identifies opportunities to achieve revenue targets.
  • Manage sales team performance to budget and other performance standards.
  • Oversee the utilization of sales resources to meet revenue goals and objectives.
  • Recommend compensation for the sales team based on company standards and pay for performance philosophy.
  • Develop and implement sales processes to provide for smooth and timely workflow throughout the sales department.
  • Ensure that sales tools and resources are properly aligned with client potential.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a sales leadership role, with at least 3 years in electronic media.
  • B2B sales leadership experience with knowledge in both digital and linear ad sales.
  • Knowledge of local media market and local contacts.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in business marketing.
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based PCs and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this role is $112,000 to $168,000 per year, with an annual incentive/commission target of $55,500. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement planning, and paid time off.
