Overview

Borden Dairy is seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation of our manufacturing facilities. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and efficient work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in disassembling and reassembling machinery and support equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment malfunctions within the plant.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment as scheduled, adhering to established routines.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and possess a foundational understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Perform arc welding and/or Heliarc welding operations effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with precision.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems related to electronic components and PLCs.
  • Rebuild gearboxes and drives, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Repair and maintain filling machines, guaranteeing accurate and efficient operation.
  • Overhaul valves and pumps, restoring them to peak performance.
  • Uphold strict adherence to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Access various areas of machinery and support equipment as required for maintenance tasks.
  • Gain access to designated areas within the facilities to perform repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Provide your own essential hand tools for efficient work execution.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, along with one year of certification from a college or technical school. Alternatively, two to three years of relevant experience and/or training may be considered, along with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid forklift license issued by the company.
  • Prior experience within the food and beverage industry is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Be prepared to work overtime and on holidays as needed to meet operational demands.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly stand, use hands, stretch, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb, and talk or hear. Occasionally climb or balance and smell.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Maintain full range of body motion.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
