We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and skilled Scientist to become part of our dynamic team comprising geneticists, molecular biologists, and computational experts. Candidates should possess extensive laboratory research experience utilizing various cell and molecular biology methodologies. A spirit of open communication and inquisitiveness is crucial. The selected individual will thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment and will be expected to manage multiple research initiatives simultaneously. This role may require regular weekend and holiday commitments within the laboratory, as well as undertaking administrative and managerial responsibilities, which may constitute up to 25% of the role.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct routine cell culture procedures to maintain and propagate cell lines, including induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).


• Execute differentiation of iPSCs into desired cell types (e.g., retinal cells, immune cells).


• Engage in CRISPR/Cas functional genomics research utilizing lentiviral and RNP delivery techniques.


• Collaborate on cross-functional target identification and validation projects to bolster early drug discovery initiatives in immunology and ophthalmology.


• Develop cell-based functional assays pertinent to disease biology.


• Conduct arrayed and pooled CRISPR screens employing fluorescent cell sorting and high-content imaging methodologies.


• Work closely with scientists across various functional and therapeutic domains in a collaborative research framework.


• Clearly communicate and present project designs and outcomes to stakeholders and in group discussions.


• Undertake routine managerial duties within the lab, including coordinating maintenance schedules and liaising with facilities to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications:


• BS, MS, and/or PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.


• BS with 5+ years of laboratory experience, MS with 2+ years, or PhD with no prior experience in a laboratory environment, whether in industry or academia.


• Required experience in in vitro cell culture, aseptic techniques, and the development of cell-based assays, with a minimum of 1 year.


• Expected experience in flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and/or protein assays (e.g., ELISA, Western Blot), with a minimum of 1 year.


• Familiarity with transfection, nucleofection, and viral transduction is advantageous.


• Experience in immunology, neuroscience, and/or ophthalmology research is beneficial.


• Knowledge or experience with CRISPR systems is a plus.


• A willingness to learn new techniques and apply them in a fast-paced research environment is essential.


• Creativity, problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail are highly valued.


• Strong communication and collaboration skills are critical. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is necessary.
