Job Overview

North Suffolk Community Services Inc. is seeking dedicated Overnight Support Specialists to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals with mental health conditions in a residential environment. In this role, you will provide assistance tailored to the needs of clients while adhering to all organizational policies and regulatory requirements. The Overnight Support Specialist will remain alert and accessible to consumers throughout the entire overnight shift.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Remain awake and available to residents during the overnight hours until they depart the facility for the day or until the morning staff arrives.
  • Conduct hourly security checks, ensuring that all consumers are present in the facility.
  • Perform necessary household maintenance and upkeep.
  • Document individual progress in confidential records.
  • Prepare daily notes at the end of each shift, if necessary, to report any incidents and maintain consistent communication with team members.
  • Assist with medication administration as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of six months of experience working with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders is required in lieu of a college degree.
  • Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is preferred. Candidates must be or become MAP certified and CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire (training will be provided).
