As a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and enhancement of aircraft systems to fulfill client specifications.

Your role will involve utilizing systems engineering methodologies and tools to support the complete lifecycle of various aircraft systems, including but not limited to:

Environmental Control, Auxiliary Heat, Oxygen Systems, Liquid Cooling, Environmental Monitoring, Moisture Control, Smoke Detection, Pitot/Static Systems, Cabin Pressurization, Fuel Systems, Ice Protection, Air Cycle Systems, Vapor Cycle Systems, Potable Water Systems, Mechanisms, Power Plants, and Hydraulics.

Your responsibilities will encompass technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, as well as conducting cost, risk, and supportability analyses for comprehensive systems.

Analyses will be executed at all levels of the total system product, covering concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

Ensure a logical and systematic transition of customer or product requirements into complete systems solutions that respect technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.


Key Responsibilities:

Developing Aircraft System Requirements:
Concept of Operations, System Specifications, Component Specifications, and System Schematics
Conducting system analysis and modeling, including: Thermal/Heat Transfer Analysis, Flow/Pressure Drop Analysis, Component Sizing Analysis (Fan, Pump, Heat Exchanger, Valves), and Control System Architecture & Analysis

Executing verification and validation tasks such as: creating test plans, developing test procedures, operating the system for ground and flight testing, and authoring certification reports.

Assisting in the preparation of technical publications by providing source data and reviewing documents such as: system operating manuals, maintenance manuals, and instructions for continued airworthiness.
Participating in periodic travel for Technical Interchange Meetings, Program Reviews, Testing, and Aircraft Field Support.
Demonstrating proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Exhibiting strong communication skills (verbal, written, slide presentations).
Showcasing proficient technical writing skills (specifications, procedures, reports).

Conducting hands-on testing and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems; this role requires the ability to navigate confined spaces on the aircraft.

Ability to meet flight certification requirements: Flight Physical, Altitude Chamber, Ground Survival Training, Water Survival Training.
Understanding and supporting the aircraft certification process (Civil: 14CFR Part 25 and 23; Military: MIL-HDBK-516).

Interpreting and Utilizing Aircraft Technical Documentation:
system schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, aircraft technical publications, and Standards (MIL, SAE, RTCA, 14CFR, etc.).

Job Qualification Requirements:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is strongly preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience may be considered. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Proficient computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Willingness to travel as necessary.

Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with requirement management tools (DOORS, MBSE tools such as Magic Draw-Cameo systems modeler).
Experience with system analysis and modeling tools (Macroflow, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, MSC Easy 5, Sinda Fluint, High-level Microsoft Excel functions & Macros).
Experience with Environmental Qualification (Temperature, Altitude, Humidity, Icing, Shock, Vibration, etc.).
