JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Teacher is accountable for ensuring the safety of children while promoting measurable advancements in their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. This role involves cultivating and sustaining positive connections with each child's parent or guardian. The Lead Teacher collaborates with other classroom staff, fostering their development through effective delegation and constructive feedback. This position oversees the daily educational activities within the classroom, adhering to established policies and state licensing requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a secure and nurturing learning environment that encourages supervised exploration, supporting children's growth and learning.
  • Guide staff and volunteers in the classroom by implementing appropriate strategies, developing outcomes, and planning lessons that align with developmental standards.
  • Promote educational and social-emotional growth through direct interaction and by recognizing each child's unique strengths.
  • Support and implement the current curricula across various domains including education, social skills, and parenting.
  • Foster positive relationships with families to encourage their involvement in their child's educational journey.
  • Incorporate nutrition and self-care practices into daily routines to help children develop healthy habits.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed timely, maintaining accurate records and follow-ups with families and providers.
  • Conduct educational and behavioral screenings for each child within designated timeframes, collaborating with families to address individual needs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with staff, supervisors, parents, and service providers.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all matters related to children, families, and staff in accordance with program standards.
  • Participate in continuous professional development through training and workshops.
  • Report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect following mandated procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with relevant experience and coursework. Successful completion of the Teaching Strategies Gold Inter-rater Reliability Certification within six months of hire is required. One to three years of experience working with young children is preferred. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), the ability to create developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality are essential for this role. Proficiency in word processing and data entry is required. Additional qualifications include certification in CPR and First Aid, reliable transportation, and the ability to take initiative and work collaboratively.
