Key Responsibilities:- Assist pharmacists with filling prescriptions, packaging, and providing medication to patients.
- Restock medications and supplies to fixed levels, and compound or repackage medications as needed.
- Perform cashiering duties, including collecting cash, checks, or credit card payments for collectible services.
- Process clinic and hospital drug requisitions, receive, fill, and update unit dose cassettes.
- Assist with and/or provide medication, OTC products, or supplies to patients in a helpful and caring manner.
- Pick up and deliver medications and supplies to designated areas or persons per schedule.
- Calculate prices for prescriptions or orders, sell non-prescription drugs, and collect cash, checks, or credit card payments.
- Balance monies, checks, and credit card charge documents daily against cash register receipts and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Gather and compute data and information for various needs, including health plan, non-plan, special, and routine reports, studies, and statistics.
- Maintain accurate OTC charge schedules and price lists, adjust changes, and order routine bank supplies for the cashiering area.
- Assure all equipment in the cashiering area is operating in an acceptable manner and advise the supervisor of any malfunctions or report them to the appropriate service company.
- Order, receive, store, return, credit, and discard drugs and supplies, and pack, compound, reconstitute, and distribute inventory for issue, transfer, or dispensing.
- File prescriptions and any transaction documents of pharmacy operations timely and appropriately.
- Accept responsibility for resolving immediate problems and accomplishing assigned tasks and reporting irregularities.
- Inspect and maintain the work area and equipment in an organized, clean, safe, and efficient working condition.
- Previous pharmacy experience required or in a pharmacy technician training program.
- Complete Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 2 years of hiring.
- High school diploma or equivalent related experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, customer service, oral communication, multi-tasking, teamwork, and written communication.
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.
- Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Training/giving and receiving instructions.
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
- Completion of Pharmacy technician training program.
- Post high school coursework training.
