Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I is a highly skilled professional responsible for providing technical support to the pharmacy team. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to the pharmacy team, including preparation of medications and supplies.
  • Assist with the training and mentorship of new team members.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
  • Standing, walking, stooping/bending, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
  • Lifting usual weight up to 40 pounds for 5 feet, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds for 200 feet, carrying up to 40 pounds for 200 feet.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced and congested work environment.
  • Exposure to noise/vibration from air conditioner, and office/pharmacy equipment.
  • Exposure to body fluids, chemicals, some contact with patients with communicable diseases.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current PTCB certification preferred.
  • One (1) year experience as a Pharmacy Technician at The Queen's Medical Center (QMC); or two (2) years experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting outside of QMC.
