Peer Support Specialist Compensation:
Salary is determined based on the qualifications and requirements of the position. The compensation range may also reflect your educational background and experience, along with internal equity and market alignment. Typically, new hires start at the lower to mid-range of the salary scale.
Salary: $24.89 per hour, dependent on experience.

Role Summary:
A certified Peer Support Specialist is an individual with significant personal experience in overcoming challenges related to mental health or substance use. This lived experience equips them with unique insights that complement professional training. The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) is a former or current client of mental health or substance use services who has achieved substantial recovery and is now dedicated to providing peer support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with assigned peers in various environments, including home visits and community settings, to build and maintain trusting relationships.
- Provide emotional support and a reassuring presence in medical clinic settings.
- Participate in group sessions to foster client growth and recovery.
- Assist clients in identifying personal recovery objectives through the creation of a Personal Recovery Plan.
- Support clients in overcoming barriers to independence, including skill development in budgeting and healthcare navigation.
- Offer follow-up support to connect individuals with community resources to help maintain stability.
Qualifications:
- Must meet the Oregon Health Authority Certified Peer Support Specialist requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years old and not listed on the Medicaid provider exclusion list.
- Must have completed an approved training program for Peer Support Specialists.
Ethical Standards:
Certified Peer Support Specialists are expected to adhere to the NCC AP NCPRSS Code of Ethics, which includes maintaining clinical supervision, accurately representing qualifications, and ensuring client confidentiality.
Additional Requirements:
A valid Oregon driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary, as driving is part of the role. Proof of insurance must be provided.
