Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Methodist Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and processing all aspects of biweekly and interim payrolls, working collaboratively with various departments to ensure accurate and timely payrolls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete payroll-related tasks to ensure employees are paid correctly and complete all required deposits and reports.
  • Provide internal customer support for payroll-related inquiries, researching and resolving issues as needed.
  • Oversee the timely input and processing of W4 and Direct Deposit forms and requests.
  • Review and set up garnishment orders, preparing orders and correspondence for scanning.
  • Support editors and approvers with daily and weekly review of timesheets to ensure proper application of MHS policies.
  • Run delivered payroll reports in timekeeping and ERP systems, preparing and reviewing audit reports to verify and process data.
  • Audit pre- and post-payroll to ensure accuracy of hours, wages, tax deductions, garnishments, and benefit accruals.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through to delivery of checks, payslips, and transmission of files to outside banks and agencies.
  • Balance and prepare tax data for quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and related reports.
  • Assist in facilitating payroll timekeeping system classes and provide individual assistance with timekeeping system as needed.
  • Assist payroll management and systems analyst with software and hardware issues, as well as payroll testing for software upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills and work ethic, with ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Knowledge of automated time and attendance systems, with API knowledge preferred.
  • High School diploma (Associates or Bachelors degree preferred) and a minimum of three years in-house payroll experience required.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)/Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
