Senior Patent Agent

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a highly skilled Senior Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, breeding, or a related bioinformatics computer science discipline.
The Senior Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, analyzing patent landscapes, and advising clients on patentability considerations for complex technologies. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in drafting and/or prosecuting patent applications as a Registered U.S. Patent Agent, preferably in a law firm.
The Senior Patent Agent will work closely with the in-house legal team, brilliant scientists, and business partners involved in various world-class technologies, including advanced breeding, genomics, CRISPR, and artificial intelligence.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize projects and meet aggressive deadlines. Superior communication, influencing, and networking skills are also essential.
Key Responsibilities:- U.S. patent drafting
- U.S. and foreign patent prosecution
- Familiarity with Patent administrative proceedings
- IP portfolio development aligned with the business strategy
- Invention development
- Inventor education
- Patentability and landscape analysis
- Assistance in Freedom to Operate analysis
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) from a reputable institution
- Registered to Practice before the USPTO as a Patent Agent
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in drafting and/or prosecuting patent applications
- Strong background in quantitative genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, breeding, or a related bioinformatics computer science discipline
