Essential Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, immunology, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of pertinent experience; industrial exposure is advantageous.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience, though 2+ years is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on cell culture experience is required.
• Previous involvement with cGxP standards and/or assay development is desirable.
• Experience working collaboratively within a team is preferred.
Role Overview:
The Potency Group within the Cell Therapy Analytical Development division is tasked with the development of potency assays and functional characterization for cell therapy products. The Associate Scientist will contribute to the creation of cutting-edge potency assays that support the organization’s portfolio of preclinical and clinical-stage cell therapies. A foundational understanding of functional assay design and development is beneficial, with knowledge in T cell biology being an asset. This role necessitates close collaboration with team members to ensure the production of high-quality functional assays.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the creation of suitable potency and/or biological characterization assays for both early- and late-stage projects.
• Operate with minimal oversight for routine tasks, including executing experiments based on established protocols, reviewing data, and conducting analyses.
• Organize findings for effective communication of data, draw appropriate conclusions, and plan subsequent steps.
• Maintain detailed and timely documentation of protocols, study designs, and results in notebooks.
• Responsible for establishing in vitro functional assays to evaluate T cell functionality.
• Utilize literature and organizational knowledge to address and troubleshoot basic scientific development challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
• A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, immunology, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in T cell biology.
• Direct experience in cell culture is essential.
• Technical expertise in cell-based assay development is preferred.
• Familiarity with cGxP requirements is advantageous.
• Ability to work predominantly within established procedures while recognizing potential issues and proposing/developing suitable solutions.
• Strong capability to function effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with managers, intra-department teams, and cross-functional groups.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are required to ensure thorough and timely documentation of experiments.
