Position: Senior Associate Scientist

Location: Seattle, WA

In this key contributor role, the Senior Associate Scientist will engage in a collaborative laboratory setting to conduct analytical testing that supports various BMS initiatives. Reporting to a Manager within the Analytical Core, the focus will be on viral vector analytics. You will be part of a testing group that prioritizes data integrity, high efficiency, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine analytical evaluations, including qPCR, ddPCR, ELISA, molecular biology, and cell-based assays for in-process vector samples.
  • Implement multiplexed cell-based assays (such as killing assays, mixed lymphocyte reactions, and proliferation assays).
  • Analyze data and prepare reports with a focus on rapid and high-quality data turnaround.
  • Collaborate with Method Development teams to facilitate assay development, qualification, and transfer.
  • Innovate processes and methodologies to enhance laboratory execution and data analysis efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Prepare reports summarizing experimental work and outcomes.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, including ordering and tracking.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with a minimum of 3 years (or 1+ years with a Master’s degree) of relevant experience in industrial cell-based assays.
  • Strong understanding of immunology and cell biology techniques along with data analysis.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with qPCR, ddPCR, and vector work is essential.
  • Background in a self-motivated, results-oriented, fast-paced matrix environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with statistical software (R, JMP, Minitab) is preferred.
  • Ability to manage time creatively and escalate relevant issues to management.
  • Strong skills in scientific and technical writing and presentations.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

The starting compensation for this position ranges from $82,000 to $102,000, along with potential incentive cash and stock opportunities, subject to eligibility.
