Ensembles Program Manager

The University of Minnesota is seeking an experienced Ensembles Program Manager to join our team. This critical role serves as a bridge between the UMN Bands program and university, college, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Manage finances for the UMN Bands, including budget preparation, monitoring expenses, fees collection, and deposits.
- Lead project teams through event planning from inception to wrap-up, including budget preparation, contracting, logistical planning, guest invitations, internal and external communication, vendor relations, volunteer coordination, payment collection, and on-site event execution.
- Manage all aspects of UMN Concert Bands events, including the summer Wind Band Conducting Workshop, High School Honor Band, Concert Band Festival, and composer residencies.
- Plan and manage performance arrangements, including contracts, travel arrangements for faculty and visiting guests, and special band concert receptions.
- Manage Marching Band & Athletic Pep Bands events, including 10-day Spat Camp, Band Family Day, year-end Banquet, out-of-state travel to bowl games, and additional non-regular Marching Band appearances.
- Conduct post-event surveys to evaluate event effectiveness and communicate results and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Organize UMN Bands commissioning and recording projects in consultation with the Director of Bands.
- Collaborate with student service organizations and the Band Alumni Society on initiatives and collaborations that benefit the UMN Bands program.
- Manage ensembles office spaces and serve as the primary representative for archival initiatives to ensure information and materials are retained for future reference.
- Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of experience in program, project, and/or event management or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years.
- Able to work occasional evenings and weekends when special events are scheduled.
- Regular and efficient access to transportation to attend meetings, programs, and events.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external constituents.
- Project management and/or event experience with a demonstrated capacity to balance and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- One-year of supervisory experience including performance management.
