Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Medical City Decatur. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and delivering respiratory therapies to patients with various respiratory conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • National Registry for Respiratory Care (NRP) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) certification.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Care.
  • One year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
Program Requirements

All seasonal employees are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period. Three weekend shifts are required each 4-week schedule period. During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two holiday shifts. Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital. Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy. Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses. Current FT/PT/PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program. Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
