We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a seasonal PRN basis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and delivering respiratory therapies to patients in need.
Responsibilities- Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- NRP certification is required.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification is required.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification is required.
- Associate Degree in Respiratory Care is required.
- One year of experience is required.
- All seasonal employees are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
- All positions require one year of experience.
- Three weekend shifts are required each 4-week schedule period.
- During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
- Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
- Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD).
- Current FT/PT/PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program.
- Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
