Position Title: Lead Systems Administrator for Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Relocation Assistance: Not available

Remote/Telework: Not applicable

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift (Monday to Friday)

Travel Required: Up to 10%

Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Systems Administrator for Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture will provide support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and guiding a team of skilled Linux and Windows system administrators focused on the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA).
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for system administration, encompassing operating systems, hardware/software integration, virtualization, and containerization.
  • Utilizing expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems to effectively delegate tasks within a dynamic environment.
  • Coordinating support efforts with other program elements to enhance system administration capabilities.
  • Collaborating with engineers to deliver innovative system administration services to government clients.
  • Working with system engineers to define requirements for new systems and modifications, including design, implementation, and testing.
  • Ensuring daily system monitoring, backups, and application upgrades for optimal operations.
  • Overseeing system software installations, maintenance, and cybersecurity measures in line with established policies.
  • Engaging with hardware and software vendors for necessary activities, including infrastructure reviews.
  • Assisting with Systems Administrator tasks as required by mission demands.
  • Developing and maintaining system administration plans, procedures, and documentation.
  • Creating training plans to mentor and develop System Administrators.
  • Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Being available to report to Schriever SFB within 2 hours for mission surge support as needed.
Qualifications:This position is available at multiple levels based on the candidate's experience and business needs.

Candidates must possess one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) with 14 years of experience; Associate's degree with 12 years of experience; Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience; Master's degree with 8 years of experience.

  • A minimum of 8 years of specialized experience in a computer operations environment managing both Windows and Linux systems.
  • At least 3 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience with virtual environments, particularly VMware.
  • A current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher.
  • A current DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
Desired Skills:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux environments and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) Servers.
  • Familiarity with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
  • Experience in conducting log analysis for root cause assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of virtualization infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes technologies (RKE, OpenShift).
  • Experience with DoD networking and classified data networks.
