Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator

Position Objective: The State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant Prevention Specialist operates under minimal supervision to implement prevention initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and reducing the incidence of substance misuse and overdose related to stimulants and opioids.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as human services.
- Certification as a Prevention Specialist or the ability to obtain certification within 18 months of employment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in facilitating group sessions.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Public speaking experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the destigmatization of addiction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and Public Health Model.
- Coordinate services with referral sources and community resources.
- Deliver direct services to the community.
- Complete necessary reports, documentation, and evaluations in a timely manner.
- Design prevention initiatives tailored to community needs.
- Understand the addiction disease process and apply prevention strategies effectively.
- Utilize or develop evaluation tools to assess program outcomes.
- Achieve the short-term objectives of the SOR initiative.
- Collaborate with Integrated Provider Network (IPN) and Strategic Initiatives to Prevent Drug Overdoses (SIPDO) staff to enhance overdose prevention services.
- Provide training on topics such as Stimulant Use Disorder, Opiate Use Disorder, Medication Assisted Treatment, Naloxone distribution, and stigma.
- Manage media campaigns as directed.
- Promote Tele-Naloxone and local pharmacy Naloxone initiatives.
- Participate in required monthly provider meetings.
- Complete all mandated training for SOR as per organizational guidelines.
- Represent Jackson Recovery Centers, Inc. professionally at all relevant functions.
- Stay informed about local, state, and national prevention programs and trends.
- Actively participate in team meetings and activities.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
- Serve as a positive role model in guest relations.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts
- Shift: 8:30 AM - 5 PM
- Monday through Friday; occasional evenings may be required.
