Position Overview: Under minimal supervision, the State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant Prevention Coordinator implements prevention initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and preventing the misuse and overdose of stimulants and opioids.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
  • Certification as a Prevention Specialist or the ability to obtain certification within 18 months of employment.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in facilitating group sessions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in public speaking is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Advocate for the destigmatization of addiction.
  2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Strategic Prevention Framework and the Public Health Model of prevention.
  3. Coordinate services with referral sources and community resources.
  4. Provide direct service hours to the community.
  5. Complete required reports, documentation, and evaluation tools in a timely manner.
  6. Design prevention programs tailored to the needs of the community and specific interest groups.
  7. Exhibit knowledge of the addiction disease process and apply core prevention functions appropriately.
  8. Utilize and/or develop evaluation tools to assess outcomes for prevention initiatives.
  9. Achieve the short-term outcomes set by the SOR.
  10. Collaborate with Integrated Provider Network (IPN) Grant prevention staff and Strategic Initiatives to Prevent Drug Overdoses (SIPDO) Grant prevention staff to enhance the capacity for overdose prevention services.
  11. Conduct training for clients, families, and healthcare providers on topics such as Stimulant Use Disorder, Opiate Use Disorder, Medication Assisted Treatment, overdose training, Naloxone distribution, and stigma. Additional topics may be required by relevant health authorities.
  12. Coordinate media campaigns as mandated by health authorities.
  13. Promote Tele-Naloxone and local pharmacy Naloxone initiatives.
  14. Attend mandatory SOR Monthly Provider Meetings.
  15. Complete all required training for SOR as directed by health authorities and organizational leadership.
  16. Represent the organization and the Prevention program professionally at all related functions.
  17. Stay informed about local, state, and national prevention programs, trends, research, and relevant information.
  18. Participate as a member of the organizational team in all meetings and activities as instructed.
  19. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements.
  20. Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to all stakeholders.
  21. Act as a role model and demonstrate positive relations in representing the organization.
  22. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Schedule: 8-hour shifts
  • Shift: 8:30 AM - 5 PM
  • Monday through Friday; occasional evenings may be required.
