Sustainable Finance Lead Wanted

We are seeking a highly motivated Sustainable Finance Lead to join our team at the Community Preservation Corporation. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in driving our multifamily decarbonization strategy forward.

About the Role

The Sustainable Finance Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing our sustainable finance strategy, including designing and implementing rate buy-down programs, overseeing top-loss structures, and establishing relationships with correspondent banks and other key financing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainable finance strategy to drive our multifamily decarbonization efforts.
  2. Design and implement rate buy-down programs to improve the financial feasibility of sustainable projects.
  3. Oversee top-loss structures and manage associated funding allocations to align with project risk profiles and performance targets.
  4. Establish and maintain relationships with correspondent banks, national lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie MAC, FHA, and other key financing partners.
  5. Cultivate a pipeline of partner-aligned projects to enable consistent capital deployment.
  6. Lead comprehensive financial analysis for potential investments, assessing both traditional metrics and carbon reduction ROI.
  7. Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and in publications to position it as a leader in sustainable capital markets for multifamily real estate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in capital markets, real estate finance, or sustainable investment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Multifamily or commercial real estate experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of credit guarantees, top-loss funding structures, rate buy-down mechanisms, and sustainable finance vehicles.
  • Advanced financial modeling and risk assessment skills, with experience in assessing both traditional and sustainability-driven ROI.
  • Relationship Management: Proven track record in developing and managing lender and correspondent relationships, ideally within sustainable or impact finance markets.

About the Location

This is a hybrid role that can be based in either NYC or Washington DC, with the option to work out of our Manhattan office 2-3 days a week or remotely. The successful candidate will require periodic travel to our Manhattan office.
