About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Decarbonization Strategist to join our team at the Bezos Earth Fund. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping us achieve our mission to accelerate decarbonization outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will conduct analysis on GHG impacts from our existing and prospective grantmaking portfolio, informing our strategic direction and supporting the effective allocation of resources to address climate change. This includes:

  • Liaising with grant leads and grantees to estimate the GHG impacts of their grant portfolios.
  • Assessing and developing tools specifically to estimate GHG impacts of our existing and prospective grantmaking portfolio.
  • Collaborating with our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Lead to assess and communicate GHG impacts of our grants internally and externally.
  • Supporting grantmaking to advance work on decarbonization pathways, including scenario analysis and analytical methods for decarbonization analysis (e.g., energy modeling, economic modeling, land use modeling, integrated assessment modeling).
  • Staying informed of the latest knowledge, analysis, and research related to GHG estimation, accounting, and decarbonization pathways.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree in environmental science or policy with knowledge of climate issues.
  • At least 5 years of full-time work experience on climate-related issues.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proven track record of using quantitative methods to assess the decarbonization characteristics (GHGs, deployment rates, jobs) from a variety of types of decarbonization interventions.
  • Strong quantitative research skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work.
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Great attention to details and ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project planning and management skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for our mission.
  • A self-starter with ability to juggle multiple assignments at one time.
  • A friendly, positive demeanor and determined attitude.
