Job Summary

Tuerk House is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our treatment team, you will work closely with clients to develop and implement personalized treatment plans, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their recovery goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Assessment and Treatment Planning

Conduct thorough assessments of clients' needs and develop comprehensive treatment plans to address their unique challenges and goals.

Counseling and Support

Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, offering guidance, support, and education to help them overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery.

Case Management

Work closely with clients to identify and address any barriers to treatment, ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

Collaboration and Communication

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes, providing regular updates to the treatment team and stakeholders.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., counseling, psychology, social work) and at least two years of experience working in the human services field, preferably in substance abuse treatment.

Certifications and Licensure

Current certification or licensure in a relevant field (e.g., Certified Supervised Counselor (CSC-AD), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)).

Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build strong relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.

Knowledge and Experience

Significant knowledge of substance abuse treatment principles, theories, and best practices, as well as experience working with clients with co-occurring disorders.
