The County of Fresno's Department of Public Works and Planning is presenting remarkable career prospects for seasoned, driven, and committed professionals eager to take on the role of Engineer II/III.

The Engineer II/III is responsible for a range of engineering tasks, including serving as a project engineer by developing designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates, as well as managing and processing contract documents for the design, construction, and maintenance of various engineering initiatives.

Engineer II is the experienced level in this classification series.

Individuals in this role are expected to handle a variety of engineering assignments with minimal oversight and are anticipated to exercise a broader scope of responsibilities and professional judgment in completing assignments compared to those at the Engineer I level.

Engineer III represents the advanced-experienced level in this classification series.

Incumbents tackle more complex engineering tasks with minimal supervision and are allowed to exercise greater independent professional judgment in their job duties and responsibilities than those at the Engineer II level.

Additionally, Engineer III incumbents may take on a leadership role.

Positions within the Engineer classification series are assigned to various programs, including: Construction, Design, Development Services, Road Maintenance & Operations, or Resources.

The current vacancies available through this recruitment are in the following areas:
Design – Roads and Bridge Sections
Resources (Water/Wastewater Systems) – Special Districts Administration

Positions in this classification are categorized under Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes roles that necessitate significant physical effort, involving frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing over 25 pounds.

Considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are typically involved. Physical stamina is generally required, and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be necessary, depending on specific job assignments.
