Career Development Specialist

At SER Metro-Detroit, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Coach to join our team. As a Career Coach, you will play a vital role in helping our customers achieve their career goals and improve their employability.
Job Summary:The Career Coach will be responsible for providing career coaching activities and related supportive services to eligible customers of our Center for Working Families and ReBuild Detroit apprenticeship readiness program. This includes:
- Developing and implementing individualized service plans to meet customer needs.
- Maintaining relationships with employers and partners to generate job opportunities for our customers.
- Providing workshops on career readiness soft skills and advising customers on how to prepare for interviews.
- Conducting ongoing follow-up calls and site visits to determine employment status and satisfaction with services delivered.
- Managing and updating the database of job development leads and case notes.
- Assisting with workshops, special events, and programming.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, career planning, or a related field.
- Bilingual language skills (English and Spanish).
- Experience in WIOA and employment and training program operations.
- Knowledge of community resources, case management principles, and program policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and use Salesforce, LaunchPad, OSMIS, FileMaker, and other reporting systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, administration, and other employees.
- A valid Michigan Driver's License and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
This role operates in a normal school environment with a moderate noise level. You will be working with a team to provide career coaching services to our customers.
