Recovery Support Specialist

Recovery Centers of America is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Job Summary:The Recovery Support Specialist assists patients with daily schedules, leads educational and recreational activities, and accompanies patients to and from examinations and treatments. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Monitor patient activities and provide security checks throughout the shift.
- Participate in direct patient care, ensuring patient safety and interacting therapeutically.
- Assist in the activities of patients' daily schedules.
- Process patient belongings for new admissions and resulting from visitation.
- Partner with clinical staff to conduct welcoming New Patient Orientations.
- Aid and instruct patients in facilitation and presentation of the RCA Clinical Curriculum.
- Understand the principles of 12-Step Programs and their application to the recovery process.
- May be required to transport patients.
- Collaborate to manage high-risk or re-engagement incidents.
- Ensure adherence to program scheduling, policies, procedures, protocols, or guidelines.
- Communicate with program leadership/administrator on-call regarding identified program needs.
- Communicate with inter-disciplinary departments regarding new admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months experience in a health and human service-related field (preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
- Proficiency with technology hardware, systems, and tools required to perform duties.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, the ability to work effectively with and through others, and strong project management skills. They will also have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to create accurate and punctual reports.
Work Environment:The Recovery Support Specialist will work in a variety of environments, including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. They will spend much of their time on their feet, actively working with patients.
Physical Demands:The employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. They will occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Travel:Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
