Primary Role

This position can be based in any of our operational offices.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Procurement Manager - Construction will possess extensive experience collaborating with engineers to procure construction services for capital projects valued between $5M and $150M. This role involves leading a project team through the sourcing, negotiation, and contract award processes, supporting the company's capital initiatives. We seek a skilled professional with a strong background in construction procurement, adept at sourcing, negotiating, and contracting through various delivery models to achieve optimal total cost of ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster relationships with clients across operational units to understand their business needs and build trust in the sourcing function.
  • Guide category leaders in identifying opportunities, defining, and prioritizing sourcing strategies and initiatives.
  • Allocate resources effectively to achieve annual savings and cost avoidance targets.
  • Provide expertise in sourcing, market insights, and best practices while offering coaching in category management.
  • Mentor team members to enhance performance and lead high-stakes negotiations and projects to maximize value.
  • Manage vendor relationships to promote collaboration and eliminate inefficiencies while reducing costs.
  • Develop and implement KPIs for supplier and sourcing performance, communicating results to enhance understanding and confidence in sourcing capabilities.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strategic sourcing experience across diverse categories and strategies.
  • Proven ability to drive value through methods beyond price negotiation, such as specification and demand management.
  • Familiarity with best practices in sourcing and vendor management across various industries.
  • Insight into relevant supply markets and sources of market intelligence.
  • Proficient in procurement information systems and applications, with strong financial acumen to develop performance measurement goals.
  • Experience in operations management and asset performance measurement.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; CPM certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of total work experience, with at least 6 years in procurement or category management.
  • At least 2 years in a management or senior individual contributor role.
  • Experience in the utilities industry is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required up to 10-15%.
