Crisis Intervention Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Victim Support Specialist to join our team at Johnson County Kansas. As a key member of our Victim Assistance Unit, you will provide critical support to victims of crime, ensuring they receive the resources and assistance they need to navigate the complex criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities- Manage incoming calls and assist walk-in clients seeking case-related information and resources.
- Process bond modification and restitution requests, and other requests submitted by system-based and community-based partners.
- Coordinate restitution when financial loss has occurred, and act as liaison between victim, court services, and fee accounting.
- Investigate status of restitution upon request of victim and provide appropriate information and referrals.
- Inform prosecuting attorney when Crime Victims Compensation or insurance company subrogates parties to restitution.
- Collect victim information and provide required notifications, process initial information packets, and on-going notifications of court hearings as required by statute.
- Supply information to court services officer, maintain statistical data for periodic review and reporting, and provide assistance to victims in filing Protection from Abuse Order petitions.
- Make referrals to community-based programs and resources, and ensure services provided are consistent and appropriate with needs.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to victims and witnesses, including during court proceedings, and assist with navigation of the Criminal Justice System and referrals.
- Complete special requests by prosecuting attorney, prepare and coordinate victim and witness for court hearings, testimonies, and trials, and schedule meetings between prosecutor and victims in collaboration with Trial Assistant staff.
- Notify victims of charging decisions, case progress, and upcoming court procedures, and provide guidance to program volunteers.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services, or related field is required.
- One (1) year of advocate and/or case management experience is preferred.
- Experience may be substituted for education. Education may be substituted for experience.
