About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Design Engineer to join our CPU design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new physical design methodologies and optimization techniques to improve the performance, power, and area of our industry-leading CPU designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with CPU CAD and design teams to engineer new flows and algorithms to improve Power, Performance, and Area (PPA)
  • Develop new physical design focused flows to improve CPU performance and efficiency
  • Work with STA, library, tech, and post-silicon teams to improve optimization during physical design
  • Apply machine learning techniques in the silicon design space to drive innovation and improvement
Requirements
  • Minimum BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Electrical engineering fundamentals in digital circuits, timing/power concepts, and logic design
  • Basic scripting skills to interface with tools and mine data
  • Experience using industry-standard synthesis, PnR, and STA tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong fundamentals in high-performance and low-power physical design techniques
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting (e.g., Python, TCL, Perl)
  • Understanding of challenges related to latest deep sub-micron technology and ability to write algorithms and code to extract Power, Performance, and Area during physical design
