This role involves close collaboration with mechanical and controls engineering teams to devise innovative solutions that will transition this program from research and development through design validation and into full-scale production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, or repair custom tooling and testing equipment.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams and technicians to provide design feedback, ensure project execution, and assist in commissioning.
  • Maintain the GSE Tooling work area and manage the inventory of welding and fabrication supplies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support shifting priorities and ambitious deadlines.
  • Assist other development, production, and facilities teams as needed.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet Amazon's driver eligibility criteria.
  • Be capable of lifting up to 49 pounds occasionally, standing or walking for extended periods (with breaks), and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Export Control Requirement:
In compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents (i.e., current Green Card holders), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugees or granted asylum.

A Day in the Life:
The Development Fabricator will leverage their unique fabrication skills to address engineering challenges.

You will engage closely with Engineers, Technicians, and Machine Shop personnel to create and deliver custom fabricated fixtures and devices.

About the Team:

The Kuiper Tooling Ops (KTO) team consists of a diverse group of Technicians providing mechanical support to Project Kuiper. Our strength lies in delivering creative and effective solutions in real-time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a custom welding and fabrication environment.

  • Proficient in manufacturing precision parts using manual machine tools (mill/lathe).
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 2+ years of experience in reading, interpreting, and executing mechanical drawings.
  • 1+ year of experience with CAD software.
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with rigging and lifting operations.

  • Degree or certification in a related field.
  • Knowledge of CNC conversational programming.

The base pay for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market to $165,200/year in our highest geographic market.
