POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct oversight of healthcare providers and nursing management, the Healthcare Support Specialist carries out a range of administrative and clinical responsibilities aimed at delivering high-quality and compassionate patient care. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, welcoming and guiding patients to examination rooms, collecting medical histories, measuring and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for assessments or procedures, and assisting healthcare providers during examinations or procedures.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is mandatory. Familiarity with basic computer operations and typing skills is preferred. The ability to execute a diverse array of clinical tasks related to outpatient care is desirable. Problem-solving capabilities are preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) systems is a plus. Additional Requirements: Completion of a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship (minimum hours required). Alternatively, graduation from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the last five years. Current certification as a Medical Assistant with a minimum of five years of clinical medical assisting experience is also acceptable. Other qualifications include being a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the last five years, or military-trained medical personnel with similar experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.
