GENERAL OVERVIEW: Under the direct guidance of healthcare providers and nursing management, the Medical Assistant engages in a range of administrative and clinical responsibilities aimed at delivering high-quality and compassionate patient care. Key tasks include welcoming and guiding patients to examination rooms, collecting medical histories, measuring and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for examinations or procedures, and assisting healthcare providers during these processes.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is essential. Familiarity with basic computer operations and typing skills is preferred. The ability to execute a variety of clinical skills related to outpatient care is advantageous. Problem-solving capabilities and effective interpersonal and communication skills are also preferred. Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) systems is a plus. Additional Qualifications: Completion of a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship (minimum hours required). Alternatively, graduation from a Medical Assistant program without an externship but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the last five years. Current certification as a Medical Assistant with a minimum of five years of clinical experience is acceptable. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Licensed Paramedics/Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) with relevant clinical experience, or military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years are also eligible.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire or must be successfully completed by the end of the orientation period.
