Job Summary:

OxyChem is seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Production Superintendent within our Deer Park PVC/KOH Plant located in Deer Park, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the highest priority on the protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
  • Ensure Process Safety and Risk Management principles are incorporated into department operations.
  • Drive Operational Excellence and promote strong operating discipline across all process areas.
  • Review and promote consistency of operation, application of policies/procedures, and accountability across all process areas.
  • Establish expectations and encourage ideas for continual variable and fixed cost reductions.
  • Manage training needs for the Production Team and ensure compliance and employee qualification requirements are completed.
  • Perform specific duties of the Production Manager during absences away from the plant.
  • Support and establish priorities for Deer Park PVC capital engineering by obtaining input from production personnel.
  • Establish direct communication lines with other similar plants to develop a troubleshooting network.
  • Partner with the maintenance department to identify, prioritize, and schedule routine, capital, and T/A maintenance work.
  • Develop long-term solutions to issues through engineering and cost analysis.
  • Manage the overall production plan for shutdowns, including detailed shutdown, decontamination, and start-up plans for major plant shutdowns.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering.
  • Prefer minimum of five years plant process experience and/or prior supervisory experience.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Must be able to respond to off-hour emergencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
  • Physical requirements: must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and walk, bend, and stoop.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including the use of a respirator, and respond to visual and audible alarms.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Good working knowledge of SAP.
