Job Title: Legal Studies Instructor

Sinclair Community College is seeking a part-time Legal Studies Instructor to teach day, evening, online, and weekend courses at our downtown Dayton campus; Courseview campus in Mason, OH; and Englewood, Huber Heights, and Centerville Learning Centers.

Job Summary:

The Legal Studies Instructor will be responsible for planning and organizing instruction in ways that maximize student learning, preparing and submitting syllabi, employing appropriate teaching and learning strategies, and evaluating student work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
  • Prepare and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Cannot exceed teaching maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements:
  • Ohio State Bar license is required
  • Documented experience working with paralegals is required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience in a community college or university preferred
  • A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • The capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
