Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Technician to join our team. As an EMT, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical care to patients in need.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients, including collecting and documenting data for reassessment and providing appropriate data to physicians and nurses.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
  • Turn over rooms after each patient use, ensuring equipment returns to its proper place and taking care of instrument trays according to current procedures.
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties, such as answering telephones and relaying messages.
  • Prepare patients for discharge or completion of patient visit and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced EMT - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) or EMT-Basic - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) or EMT-Intermediate - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).
