Job Summary

As an Emergency Medical Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients, including collecting and documenting data for reassessment and providing appropriate data to the Physician, RN, and/or LPN.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
  • Turn over rooms after each patient use, ensuring equipment returns to its proper place and taking care of instrument trays according to current procedures.
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties, such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcription of physician orders, and preparing and organizing the patient's medical record.
  • Prepare patients for discharge or completion of patient visit and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
