Position Overview:

The Aerospace Flight Safety Engineer will play a crucial role in formulating, evaluating, and upholding flight safety protocols and documentation. This includes drafting and overseeing launch license submissions, performing safety evaluations, and employing MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and simulating launch scenarios. The ideal candidate will possess experience in the aerospace industry, especially in relation to launch licensing, along with a solid proficiency in MATLAB Simulink.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive flight safety evaluations for launch activities.
  • Draft and submit launch license applications, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Utilize MATLAB and Simulink to design, simulate, and validate flight safety models.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard evaluations for all stages of launch operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operational, and regulatory teams to uphold safety standards.
  • Monitor and analyze flight data to detect potential safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
  • Prepare and present detailed safety reports and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in flight safety and aerospace operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the aerospace sector, focusing on flight safety analysis and launch licensing.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and simulation tasks.
  • Strong comprehension of space vehicle launch operations and associated safety protocols.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies such as the FAA, and familiarity with their licensing procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with additional simulation and modeling tools relevant to flight safety.
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics and space vehicle dynamics.
  • Certification in safety management or related fields.
  • Experience collaborating with government and regulatory agencies.
