The Human Resources Specialist provides essential customer service support to both management and staff on a variety of HR topics, addressing inquiries related to policies, compliance, and program management. This role involves responding to employee questions and leadership requests, identifying challenges, and escalating issues as necessary. The Specialist acts as a liaison between various administrative departments and the broader Human Resources team.

The HR Specialist offers technical, transactional, communication, and systems support to the HR Field Services team and makes referrals to HR Centers of Expertise when required. Daily interaction with HRIS platforms is a key responsibility, ensuring the monitoring of business process activities. Success in this role hinges on delivering accurate, dependable, and timely responses to both internal and external stakeholders. This position requires performing duties with moderate supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and exceptional customer service.

  • Identify patterns in employee inquiries and HR practices for planning and resource development;

  • Collaborate with fellow HR Specialists by sharing insights and resources from specialized HR areas;
  • Create and update employee resources such as How-To Guides, FAQs, and Toolkits as necessary;
  • Adhere to Service Level Agreements;
  • Ensure that the resolution of escalated requests aligns with established policies and guidelines;
  • Educate employees and managers about available services and programs, promoting the use of direct access tools where applicable;
  • Research and resolve issues promptly, managing multiple inquiries simultaneously while prioritizing urgency.

Position Requirements:

Given the nature of the work, we seek candidates with:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Operations, Business, or a related field, or 2 years of progressive professional experience in lieu of a degree;
  • 1 - 3 years of progressive experience in various human resource functions, with practical, hands-on HR generalist experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP;
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar organization;
  • Experience as an HR practitioner across different industries and environments (e.g., union, federal contracting);
  • Fluency in Spanish.
