As an MEP Manager, you will be tasked with a comprehensive understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design principles, estimation techniques, and construction fundamentals. You will be dedicated to a specific market or region, supporting both the preconstruction and operational teams. Your expertise will serve as a vital resource for both associates and clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Adhere to McCownGordon's established procedures and policies to achieve the following:
Project Pursuit
Participate in project interviews to identify and address MEP challenges and opportunities.
Preconstruction Phase
Analyze construction drawings to uncover innovative solutions, identify potential scope gaps, and explore value engineering opportunities.
Assist the project team with MEP cost estimation at various design phases, review preconstruction and trade partner estimates, and provide insights related to engineering disciplines.
Maintain a tracking system for MEP long lead items.
Understand the strengths of trade partners and recommend suitable candidates for specific project types, aiding the preconstruction team in trade partner selection.
Review MEP scope of work documentation.
Support preconstruction managers with MEP bid evaluations, providing thorough analysis and recommendations.
Construction Phase
Regularly attend MEP trade and consultant coordination meetings.
Review specific MEP submittals for selected projects and offer constructive feedback to the operations team.
Conduct site reviews consistently for assigned projects.
Assist the project team with troubleshooting as necessary.
Help develop plans for high-risk trade partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Structural, Civil, or Construction Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree in Construction Science or Management, or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a design engineer, consultant, or in trade partner preconstruction, management, or operations.
Familiarity with MEP and construction terminology and procedures.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with trade partners and consultants through industry engagement.
Capable of collaborating with a diverse range of internal and external clients.
