About the Role

The Director of Communications and Legislative Affairs at the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS) plays a critical role in shaping the organization's public image and influencing policy decisions. As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies that engage various stakeholders, including members, retirees, employers, legislators, and the public.

Main Responsibilities

  2. Monitor and analyze legislation impacting NHRS, providing expert advice to Executive Management and the Board of Trustees on legislative strategies and communication.">
  3. Lead public information efforts across multiple platforms (brochures, newsletters, website content, news releases, etc.), ensuring stakeholders are informed on current and proposed benefit provisions.">
  4. Design and implement member and employer education programs, media relations, and public presentations.">
  5. Act as a liaison and spokesperson with legislators, media, unions, employers, and other stakeholders, delivering accurate and unbiased information.">
  6. Manage website content and oversee social media strategy, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reach.">
  7. Contribute to NHRS crisis management and strategic planning initiatives, collaborating with executive leadership and other NHRS teams.">

Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.">
  • At least seven years of experience in journalism, public relations, legislative relations, or similar fields.">
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills, with a proven track record of building relationships and managing high-impact communication strategies.">

Compensation Package

">

This is an exempt position with a salary range of $100,000-$125,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
