Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant with Sentara, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and administrative support in our Ambulatory Care Clinic. This is a full-time/day shift position that requires a minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting, with a graduate degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program and Medical Assistant Certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform patient care and administrative tasks based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Bring patients into rooms, take vitals, verify patient information, and prepare them for the doctor
- Work directly with a doctor conducting phlebotomy (lab), clinical, and clerical duties
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred
- Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records
- Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required
- BLS required within 90 days of hire

- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- BLS - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
