About the Role

The ArtCenter College of Design is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Engagement to join our team. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily responsibilities associated with student misconduct intakes, investigations, and findings.
  • Interview relevant parties, act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigation, and ensure a fair and neutral process for all parties.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of investigations, intakes, reports, and evidence.
  • Determine appropriate sanctions or supportive measures with the overall goal of creating an educational and equitable student conduct process.
  • Assist students in mediating conflicts with other students and provide support and resources to help students feel safe and welcomed in their learning environment.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Provide guidance and support to academic staff and faculty on academic misconduct violations.
  • Serve on the Academic Misconduct Committee and the Academic and Creative Integrity Committee.
  • Provide guidance to staff and faculty on student conduct policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with campus security on student conduct-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Title IX office on cases where appropriate.
  • Communicate with International Student Services, Enrollment Services, and academic departments as appropriate to ensure the appropriate follow-up for student sanctions.

Student Trainings and Support

  • Assign, manage, and communicate about required student trainings.

Other Responsibilities

  • Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion, especially for relevant crisis intervention and emergency response.
  • Record keeping, electronically or manually, of investigations, intakes, reports, evidence, etc.
  • Serve on educational or college-wide committees, work groups, task forces, and/or councils.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited college or institution.
  • Knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, and other relevant anti-discrimination laws, regulations, policies, and guidance for harassment-free workplaces and educational environments.
  • Understanding of FERPA and student rights and responsibilities in a higher education context.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in student conduct, student affairs, or related work, including experience in handling grievances and conducting investigations, risk assessment, intervention, and education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including conflict resolution and problem-solving to communicate with students, faculty, parents, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues facing the student conduct field and higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging into work practices and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within ArtCenter's diverse communities.
  • Ability to handle all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of ArtCenter business.
