Electrical Engineering Expertise

LiquidPiston is seeking a seasoned Sr. Power Electronics Engineer to enhance our Electrical Engineering group's capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in clean-sheet design for AC/DC power transfer, magnetics design, filter design, and DoD EMI hardening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-efficiency power electronics systems, including bidirectional inverters, battery chargers, and DC-DC converters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics systems into our compact, powerful, and efficient combustion engines.
  • Develop and implement advanced inverter and DC-DC converter topologies, as well as 4-quadrant motor control designs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including MIL-Standards.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with system-level design, where weight and efficiency are critical constraints.
  • Knowledge of generator sets, power distribution, and hybrid power systems, particularly with AMMPS generators.
  • Familiarity with CANBUS/MODBUS communication protocols and PCB layout design using EAGLE.
  • Firmware development experience and project management skills, including customer and vendor interactions.
