MARKET FOCUS

With over 15 years of dedicated research and development, LiquidPiston is positioned to deliver scalable power solutions for the $400 billion internal combustion engine market. We are also a key player in emerging mobility technologies, including electric vehicles, urban aircraft, and drones. Our current focus is on military and aerospace applications, with future plans to expand into industrial, commercial, marine, UAV, urban mobility, and automotive sectors.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Vice President of Engineering will report directly to the CEO and will play a pivotal role in guiding LiquidPiston through its next growth phase, transitioning from R&D to Product Development and Commercialization. The ideal candidate will possess both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to lead a dedicated, high-performance engineering team, which is expected to grow from approximately 20 to 40 members in the coming year.

The VP of Engineering will oversee engine and generator development initiatives, providing technical direction and leadership to engineers, analysts, technicians, machinists, and contractors in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will also include co-authoring technical documents and proposals, as well as engaging with existing and prospective clients.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a Master’s or Ph.D. preferred. A strong background in rotary or diesel engine development, heavy fuel engine calibration, and power generation and storage electronics (such as alternators, batteries, and PLCs) is essential.

Experience working with government entities (e.g., DOE, DARPA) is advantageous, as is a proven track record of leadership in startups or small manufacturing firms. Familiarity with software tools including SolidWorks, Labview, Mastercam, Converge, Matlab, GT Suite, and ANSYS is also desirable.
