Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Vascular Technologist (sonographer) is responsible for conducting diagnostic procedures, including arterial and venous Dopplers and vascular imaging, as per physician directives. The technologist applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and instrumentation to provide critical information to assist physicians.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Education: One of the following:

A. Completion of a training program in:

  1. Ultrasonography
  2. Radiologic Technology
  3. Vascular Technology

B. Associate's degree or higher.

2. Experience: None required.

3. Ongoing training and competency assessments as defined by departmental needs.

4. Preferred: Two years of experience as a vascular technologist in a clinical setting.

Licensure and Certification:

Must possess and maintain certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in:

1. RVT – Registered Vascular Technologist

2. RVS – Registered Vascular Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stay updated on advancements in sonography techniques and equipment.

2. Ensure proper documentation of physician orders for all examinations and prioritize urgent requests.

3. Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures during all procedures.

4. Maintain accurate patient records and manage imaging documentation effectively.

5. Order and manage departmental supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. May assist in training new staff and supervising students as directed.

2. Uphold the mission and values of Methodist Healthcare and provide exceptional customer service.

3. Comply with safety policies and report any unsafe conditions promptly.

4. Maintain ethical standards and report any violations of conduct.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.
