The selected candidate will be tasked with delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring adherence to established compliance protocols. This individual should possess the ability to identify patient requirements and prioritize them alongside the directives provided by medical professionals.

Position Overview:

This Registered Nurse will engage in either assisting physicians within the procedure room or evaluating patients in the preoperative or postoperative settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee quality patient care by following the standards set forth by the medical team.
  • Educate patients regarding their care, both in person and via telephone.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines throughout all processes (OSHA, FDA, HIPAA).

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure the patient care area is properly prepared, with all necessary pain management tools and supplies readily available.
  • Conduct pre-procedure communications, assess for any contraindications, and evaluate patient understanding of the upcoming procedure, providing education as necessary.
  • Perform comprehensive history, physical, and psychological assessments to evaluate patients prior to any procedures.
  • Assess patients' levels of anxiety and provide appropriate comfort and support to both patients and their families.
  • Implement all preoperative orders issued by physicians.
  • Set up sterile field procedure trays in the fluoroscopy suite for various procedures.
  • Monitor patients under sedation during procedures.
  • This role requires the use of protective lead garments while in the fluoroscopy/procedure room for extended periods.
  • Observe and evaluate post-procedure patients' recovery levels and consciousness from anesthesia, providing necessary updates to the medical team.
  • Assess and evaluate post-procedure patients for any complications, escalating issues to advanced care practitioners as needed.
  • Manage pain, nausea, and other post-procedure symptoms related to anesthesia, administering medications as prescribed.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-procedure care and address any inquiries.
  • Ensure patients are cleared for discharge and arrange follow-up communications.
  • Evaluate post-nerve block patients for changes in pain levels and duration of relief.
  • Respond to patient messages on the RN phone line, assessing conditions and escalating as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR, ACLS, and BCLS certifications are required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, FDA, and HIPAA compliance is essential.
  • The candidate must be capable of moving and positioning patients as well as transporting them when necessary.
