Position Overview:
The Outpatient Clinic Medical Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of an outpatient clinic by executing both administrative and clinical tasks. This role is essential in delivering safe, high-quality care and exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Support: Assists with the application and removal of splints and casts as needed.
  • Medication Preparation: Prepares injectable medications and the necessary equipment.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, including setting up instruments and equipment according to established protocols, cleaning examination and procedure rooms, and ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
  • Communication: Manages incoming phone calls, addressing patient inquiries and routing them to the appropriate personnel, such as physicians or administrative staff.
  • Chart Management: Secures and organizes medical charts related to diagnostic tests and therapy reports, facilitating communication with physicians regarding patient appointments and special needs.
  • Documentation: Sends prescriptions, completes necessary medical documentation, and manages various patient-related forms.
  • Clerical Duties: Handles administrative tasks such as sending and receiving medical records, scheduling appointments, and preparing clinical charts prior to patient visits.
  • Supply Management: Monitors clinic supplies and notifies management when stock levels are low.
  • Professional Development: Participates in mandatory training sessions to stay updated on current insurance and registration practices.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (CMA).
  • Preferred experience in an orthopedic healthcare environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in practice management and EHR software, as well as Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff at all levels.
