Job Title: Director of Development

Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, the Director of Development will be responsible for leading our fundraising efforts to achieve our annual fundraising goal of $1 million.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve our annual goal.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer to determine fundraising priorities and initiatives.
  • Lead the preparation of development materials for the Board of Trustees and CEO for donor meetings and pitches.
  • Review and provide feedback on grant proposals, reports, and donor-facing communications.
  • Manage funder relationships with new and existing donors and funding entities.
  • Prospect and identify prospective individual, corporation, and foundation donors, and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships.
  • Create collateral that is relevant and informative for distribution to donors and the public.
  • Research and apply for grants and public funding while staying up-to-date on philanthropy and development trends in the greater NY metropolitan region and nationally.
  • Oversee the fundraising process and maintain records of receipts and disbursements of funds.
  • Plan fundraising events that effectively communicate the mission of BLCS.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the school's mission and values.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of charitable giving and relationships with funders and donors in the education community.
  • Able to evaluate results and use data to drive decision-making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
