Location:

Key Responsibilities:

The Small Animal Nephrology and Urology division at NC State Veterinary Hospital is a dynamic service integrated within the Small Animal Internal Medicine and Emergency Critical Care units. This division comprises two founding members of the ACVNU and four faculty members who are current ACVNU residents (three ACVIM, three ACVECC). The service is further bolstered by two Extracorporeal Fellows and nine Internal Medicine Residents. The selected candidate will be expected to actively engage with the team, participate in resident training sessions, and contribute to our commitment to exceptional patient care.

Fellowship Duties:
The Nephrology and Urology Service at NC State Veterinary Hospital is seeking applications for a 12 to 24-month Fellowship focused on Advanced Urinary Procedures and Extracorporeal Therapy, tailored to the candidate's interests.

The Fellow's responsibilities will encompass:

  • Extracorporeal Therapy (50%): The primary duty involves assisting with the management of both elective and emergency extracorporeal therapy sessions. During the latter part of the fellowship, the Fellow will be on-call for emergency extracorporeal therapy cases, with primary case responsibility retained by the specialty service (typically Internal Medicine, but occasionally triage).

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants are encouraged to obtain letters of reference from postgraduate clinical training mentors (e.g., internship, residency) who can vouch for their clinical proficiency and interpersonal skills. Favorable factors for acceptance into the program include outstanding clinical abilities, a strong academic background, and excellent communication skills.
