Key Responsibilities:

The Small Animal Nephrology and Urology division at NC State Veterinary Hospital is a dynamic service integrated within the Small Animal Internal Medicine and Emergency Critical Care departments. The team comprises two founding members of the ACVNU and four faculty members who are current ACVNU residents, supported by two Extracorporeal Fellows and nine Internal Medicine Residents. The selected candidate will be expected to actively engage with the team, participate in resident training sessions, and contribute to delivering outstanding patient care.

Fellowship Duties:
The Nephrology and Urology Service is inviting applications for a 12–24-month Fellowship in Advanced Urinary Procedures and Extracorporeal Therapy, tailored to the candidate's interests.

The Fellow's responsibilities will encompass:

  • Extracorporeal Therapy (50%): The primary duty involves assisting in the management of both elective and emergency extracorporeal sessions. In the latter part of the fellowship, the Fellow will be on-call for emergency extracorporeal therapy sessions, with primary case management typically handled by the specialty service.
  • Advanced Urinary Procedures (50%): The Fellow will engage in advanced urinary procedures, including but not limited to stent placement, ectopic ureter ablation, renal sclerotherapy, and lithotripsy. The Fellow will also assist in training residents in these specialized techniques.

Additional Opportunities:

The successful candidate will be board-eligible or board-certified by the ACVIM. Up to six weeks of preparation time for board certification is available for eligible candidates. Additional benefits include:

  • Endourology Training: Participation in a training program for advanced endourology techniques, with costs covered by the program.
Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with potential additional hours required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants are encouraged to obtain letters of reference from postgraduate clinical training mentors who can attest to their clinical skills and interpersonal qualities. Favorable factors for acceptance include exceptional clinical abilities, a strong academic background, and excellent communication skills.

Licensure Requirements:

Eligibility for North Carolina Veterinary licensure and/or faculty certification under the supervision of the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine is required.

Compensation:

Anticipated hiring range is $70,000.
