Poll Worker Dispatch and Ballot Delivery Driver

Job Summary

This is a temporary exempt as-needed position with the City and County of San Francisco. The successful candidate will be responsible for dispatching poll workers and delivering ballots to various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch poll workers to designated locations

Requirements
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Clean DMV record
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Excellent work ethics and sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions
  • Willingness to follow instructions and manage time effectively
  • Prior experience using smartphones and navigation systems
  • Regular City driving/parking experience
  • Knowledge about troubleshooting basic car issues
Working Conditions

This is a short-term assignment that includes the completion of mandatory training and performing dispatch and delivery driver duties. The schedule involves:

  1. Trainings: A mandatory in-person training session will cover vehicle department policy, dispatch driver duties, Emergency Ballot Delivery protocols, and route training.
  2. Potential Pre-Election Tasks: Driving and election-related assignments
  3. Election Day Tasks: The primary assignment is on Election Day. It is an approximately 20-hour commitment, starting at 4:30 AM and continuing until the end of Election Day activities.
  4. Potential Post-Election Tasks: Ballot processing assignments
Benefits

Temporary exempt as-needed employees who have worked more than 1040 hours in any consecutive 12-month period, and whose normal work week at the time of inclusion in the system is not less than 20 hours are eligible for health coverage and retirement benefits.
